Barrington Auto Repair & Tire
I have been working with Douglas Automotive now for about five or six years. I have a 2001 Volvo S60 and a 2002 Trans Am, and both have had work done at Douglas. The Volvo is at about 225,000 miles, and I just visited Douglas again in an attempt to keep it running. It had a broken oil line to the Turbo, and it was spewing oil everywhere. I also had some additional work done, since the car was there. They identified that the rear brakes were frozen and inoperable. I really like working with Douglas, and I prefer to take my cars there rather than somewhere closer. They are one hour away from me. Because of the bad oil leak, I initially took my car to a Dealership in my town, as I didn't think I could make it to Douglas. As it turns out, the Dealership made excuses why they couldn't repair the car and told me that I would need to buy a new car. I called Carl at Douglas, and he encouraged me to have the car towed over there, which I did. They have a European car specialist there, and he is very, very good at what he does. Suffice it to say, the car has been repaired and is running just fine. I'm very grateful to Douglas for allowing me to keep my Volvo for a while longer! I also want to give a shout out to the staff, in general. I am always treated with respect, and they are happy to explain things and answer all of my (many) questions. Also, they make arrangements for me, so that I don't have to. In this case they made arrangements with the towing company to come get the car and also with Enterprise, so a car would be waiting for me to drive home after dropping off the Volvo. This is a shop that truly knows the meaning of Customer Service! I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs an outstanding mechanic or is trying to keep an older (beloved) car running.
